Statistics Canada’s Daycare Data Reveal Persistent Low Enrolment & High Vacancy Rates: Fat Stats and Fuzzy Numbers

Kids First Parent Association of Canada releases a new much-needed report today:

“STATISTICS CANADA’S DAYCARE DATA REVEAL PERSISTENT LOW ENROLMENT & HIGH VACANCY RATES: FAT STATS AND FUZZY NUMBERS”

Despite decades of loud claims of daycare shortages, the data compiled in the ground-breaking report exposes persistent low enrolment & high vacancies in licensed daycare in Canada using 35 years of Statistics Canada data. The report further shows how data is distorted and buried to mislead us.
Daycare Bill C-35 is about to be voted on in the Senate and would entrench $30 billion more for ‘spaces’, systems, and daycare lobbyists despite daycare centre enrolment under 15% and vacancies over 40% for age 0-5.

MPs and Senators, the media, and the public have been grossly mis-informed by misleading, misreported data underlying claims of a shortage of licensed spaces and of high demand.

Contact Senators and MPs and tell them to vote NO to evidence-free, discriminatory, harmful, wasteful Bill C35.
