Current BC gov’t data shows that almost half of new, funded licensed daycare spaces are NOT “OPERATIONAL”. The data states 20,742 of 39,415 are ‘operational’. This means 18,673 new, funded spaces are not ‘operational’. Vacant in other words. Yet with such gross over-supply government wants to create more spaces? We are told there is a staff shortage causing vacant spaces, yet we are also told there is a space shortage. What is waste costing?
