Trusting Strangers and Risks to Children

Entrusting our children to strangers involves risks. Criminal record checks cannot protect children from assault. Staff and volunteers working with young children may assist them with toileting, diapering, dressing, playing, injuries, etc. which require touching them. Parents may not even know who has had contact with their child. The children may not be able to remember. Children may be not recognize inappropriate contact and/or not be able to express this. The accused man in the National Post article linked below worked in daycares and Toronto city children’s programs.
