Aug 2016: CBC radio interview – Vanier Institute for the Family CEO, Nora Spinks, confirms that daycare wait lists are meaningless, though the daycare lobby has used them for years to claim there is a shortage of daycare spaces, yet she pushes for a $10/day daycare system. Ms Spinks advised Statistics Canada that it should not ask for parents’ preferences in child care during a consultation last year. Kids First seeks inclusion of parental preference as fundamental in family policy data in our democracy.
