Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, says that the GDP is inadequate to measure what we value and what is valuable economically. He does not mention family relationships and family care work as one of the ‘values’, but his high profile rejection of the GDP measure should be shared with policy makers in support of a more holistic and sustainable and humane economic measure
